Maine business receives 2011 Joseph A. Caputo Door Dealer of the Year Award
HAMPDEN, ME – David Plowman, President of PDQ Door Company in Maine, announced today that PDQ Door has been selected by the International Door Association (IDA) as the recipient of the 2011 Joseph A. Caputo Door Dealer of the Year Award.
"We're very honored to be recognized on an international level," says Plowman. "The list of past recipients is very impressive and we're thrilled be joining a group of such high caliber businesses from around the world."
The IDA selects a dealer for this award based on recommendations from the organization's members. The recipient must demonstrate high integrity, be respected by peers, be quality-oriented, display community and industry involvement and serve as a model door dealer company. PDQ Door is the award's first New England recipient.
Plowman credits the success of his company to his dedicated employees. "We have five full service locations and 46 trained employees with an average of over 10 years with PDQ Door," says Plowman. "Not only do we pride ourselves on our customer service and quality products, but on being a business that is active in our local community."
PDQ Door Company has donated thousands of dollars and hundreds of volunteer hours to numerous local school projects and charity events. Some of these include the Hampden/Newburgh Little League, Penobscot County Conservation Association, Hampden Boosters Club, Hampden Kiwanis, Dexter Football, Nokomis Football, Friends of the NRA, WhiteTails Unlimited, Junior Achievement, Dollars for Scholars, EMHS Healthcare Charities, Eastern Maine Community College Scholarship Fund, and the Maine Susan G. Komen Ride for the Cure.
David and his wife Debra are also active community members. David spent six years on the Hampden Town Council, is a member of the Penobscot County Conservation Committee, Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club, and the NRA. For nine years, two of which he was head coach, Plowman helped coach his daughter's softball team in Little League as well as ASA summer ball. Debra serves on the Board of Directors of Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine and has spent 16 years serving in Augusta as State Representative and State Senator. She was recently re-elected and chosen by her peers to be Assistant Majority Leader in the Maine State Senate.
Kerry Fifer, along with his wife, Heidi, of Milford are also owners and partners in PDQ Door. David Plowman commented that, "Kerry's knowledge and experience was integral to our business plan when we opened PDQ Door in 1994. Without Kerry, PDQ Door would have never gotten off the ground and his efforts have helped us grow to our 5 locations."
Plowman will attend the International Garage Door Exposition in Indianapolis in June to accept the award. For more information on PDQ Door, call 1-800-734-1401 or visit their website at www.pdqdoor.com.
